Script for you have Courage:
.
Courage
Hi Rev. Lowell Brown here with another 5 Minutes on God.
Today I wanted to start by asking you a question.
Are you Courageous?
Just answer yes on No.
Because either you think you are or you think your are not.
Ok OK
That wasn’t fair.
and I know it.
Now that I have your attention let’s talk about courage.
Only you can decide whether something you do requires courage or not.
What I am saying plainly.
Is that other peoples opinion of weather you are courageous or not is just that.
Their opinion
It is not based in any reality of yours.
Just their own.
So what is Courage, Back bone, Strength, Spine, Conviction. you name it.
Well for today we can keep it real simple.
Lets define it as:
Doing anything that is not a normal act for you.
That evokes discomfort or even fear.
That covers a lot.
So using that definition now
Can you find some recent acts of courage.
I bet you can.
Listen, if you look you will find both Times of courage and time when it was not there.
We all have this.
In Fact you are not alone. Even great men have this in their past.
For example let’s look at Abraham in Genesis
In
• Genesis 20:2 (KJV)
And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
Several times in his life Abraham feared that he would be killed so that other men could take his beautiful wife Sarah.
So rather than be courageous and proudly proclaim Sarah as his wife, he told people that she was his sister.
This could be considered not living a life of courage.
Yet this is the same man who God called righteous and the father of many nations. Because of his faith and courage.
My point is that even great men have their low times and fears.
They are Human like we are.
They just have learned through practice and experience that sometimes call for courage. Others caution.
So now we know even great men can falter.
But can also grow past their faults.
That is what I want to talk to you about now.
Listen carefully here please.
Courage is a muscle just like your body. It can be strengthened and expanded.
You just have to give it exercise.
So how do I exercise my courage you might be asking.?
You exercise your courage by constantly expanding your comfort zone.
As humans we tend to build around us activities, and people who support us but don’t test us.
So what I am saying is
Man up or Woman up
Then purposely place yourself in situations that make your uncomfortable.
Then allow yourself to succeed in these situations to grow your comfort zone bigger and add muscle to your courage.
Nothing quite builds confidence like success, even in small steps.
And confidence gives you courage because you have faith in your ability to grow and adapt.
So the next time you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation think of it as a courage workout.
What I want to leave you with here are several thoughts.
First many stories in the bible teach us that even great men have times when they are not so great.
Second that with faith and God behind them they made their courage grow and do great things.
Third, anyone can have more courage tomorrow than today.
So decide to live a little. Go get uncomfortable and sweat it out.
It will make your light shine even brighter in this world and beyond.
well this is rev. Lowell Brown and that was another 5 Minutes on God.
Thanks for Viewing and we will see you on the next one.
Shine ON.
